St Monica’s has chosen to use the Apple MacBook for this program. The MacBook is a fully featured, powerful and robust computer with a proven track record in schools. Students will have home access to the MacBook, however ownership of the MacBook is retained by St Monica’s.
St Monica’s covers the majority of the cost of the lease of the MacBook, however a hire fee determined by the school will be necessary to cover the full cost of the lease.
Ownership provides the following advantages:
Access to lower software–licensing costs;
Educational volume pricing;
The provision of applications and an operating environment designed to support learning;
Each MacBook will be set up and managed for one student only;
Full insurance, support and maintenance for the duration of the hire period.
At the end of the hire period or when a student leaves the school during the hire period, ownership of the MacBook will remain with the school. The MacBook and all accessories must be returned to the school in good condition and full working order.
MacBook Hire Period
The hire period will be for a period of two years. Families will pay a hire fee each year. During the hire period, St Monica’s will maintain the hardware and upgrade software applications and operating systems as required.
At the end of the hire agreement parents must return the MacBook in working order, good condition, and clean and free from any irreversible markings to the enclosure and screen.
